off duty

I just had the last two days off- welcome to the world of retail. My usual "weekends" are in the middle of the week, which at times can be a blessing in disguise. Like when I run to the nail salon, and it is completely empty and getting that parking spot right outside doesn't hurt either. I've searched high and low for a good boyfriend jean. I liked the idea of this trend, but for whatever reason, never found a pair that looked good. One day while picking up some goodies at Uniqlo (one of my new "go-to" stores), I spotted this pair on their sale rack. They were perfect- not too baggy and fitted in all the right places.

Last summer, I was introduced to the abarcas sandal, which also goes by the names avarcas or menorquinas.  I instantly fell in love with its European look. It's really exciting to see this style become the trend this summer. What can I say, I'm always one step ahead- no pun intended. Ha! When my mom took a trip to Spain a few months ago, I nagged her to get me another pair. I wanted a neural to go with lots of different looks, and she did a great job picking up this bronze pair.

Like I said in my last post, I'm a minimalist when it comes to jewelry. I bought these awesome earrings when visiting my sister in Chicago a few months ago. I love their interesting shape that is unique while also subtle. If you are around Saturday or Sunday, make sure to check out Betsy & Iya at Renegade this weekend! Mixing and matching is a part of my style aesthetic. Mixing the modern earrings with my vintage pinky ring created a cool balance between old and new. My mom, sister, and I all have pieces made from this stone. What was once my grandmother's bracelet, became a set of earrings, a huge cocktail ring, and a little pinky ring for me.
